I love this place!!! I went to many high end and expensive salons in Chicago. Instyle does a much better job at a much more reasonable price.
The owner does an outstanding job running a great salon and spa making my hair and myself feel and look great! And they do threading like artists.
Glad I found this hidden gem - very impressed.

I really like this place...they do my hair for a fraction of what I was paying in Lincoln Park and do a great job...they cut my kids hair for $9! They do great brow threading as well! A gem.

Two months ago I served as maid of honor for my best friend's wedding. I've never needed to get my hair done for an event before so I had no idea where to go. This salon was recommended to us by a friend. I was a little skeptical at first. I thought, "Really? Portage Park? There's nothing in Portage Park." (Unfortunately I am all too familiar with the Northwest Side.) Man alive was I shocked by this place! I found it was really clean and modern looking.
The employees were really friendly. Most importantly they did a KICK ASS job on my hair and makeup. I was truly impressed. The ladies that did our hair and makeup spent so much time on us and they were so meticulous. We looked perfect. Seriously, my best friend looked like a Greek goddess and I looked smokin (usually I'm pleased if I at least look mildly spicy but smokin...whoa! Whole 'nother level.) I received so many compliments at the wedding!

I had my haircut here for the first time. My stylist was awesome! I went from long hair to a cute bob. I had a great time chatting with her while she worked on my hair and the atmosphere was very relaxed and comfortable. Also, the prices are very reasonable. I expected the cut to cost much more.
I'm definitely looking forward to becoming a regular client here.

I love this place. It has a warm and friendly environment. I used to go to Gallery of Hair until this place opened up.
They do everything here, and you don't feel awkward.
I went on vacation to Mexico a year ago and my firends kept telling me to get a brazillian wax , so I didn't have to waste my time shaving.
I have never had waxing done in my life and I was really freaked out to get it done. When I went in to get myhair done I asked about waxing. I made the appointment and was glad I did.
They did a wonderful job, I felt reassured and relaxed. Having waxing done in private places can give you a very uncomfortable and uneasy feeling, but they made it seem like it was no big deal. She kept asking if I was ok, if I needed a break, etc. She was gentle and knew what she was doing.
Waxing is no 5 minute affair, I think I was there for 3 hours, but it was well worth it. Being in Mexico and not having to worry about stubble or stray hairs was great.
I never go anywhere else now. InStyle is my choice for pampering.

What a difference a great haircut makes! And what a difference it makes to have an actual professional do it (as opposed to a hack, like the ones at cheaper salons)! I discovered In Style a year or so ago when my girlfriend's friend and former boss gushed to us about it. She was so right! Everyone here is so friendly and the woman who always cuts my hair is so great at what she does - I would have to call her an artist! She's there taking chunks of my hair, clip-clip-clip...and somehow, like magic, it's looks straight and not choppy (what a concept!). She's also never been afraid to tell me when she's not sure a certain style will work on me or tell me what having my hair cut the way I am thinking might entail. She's got an amazing eye for shape and I think that makes all the difference.
I would have to recommend this place to anyone looking for an inexpensive (but not so inexpensive that it means your stylist is inexperienced and has no idea what they're doing) haircut - or hair color, make-up, etc. I've had my hair highlighted here before, too,
and it turned out just as fantastic.

My cousin told me about this salon, so I thought I would try it and I'm so glad I did. the stylist who does my cut and color and is amazing! Very caring and considerate and extremely knowledgable. The salon has a great location and very nice and comfortable environment. Def worth trying out. Also, your 7th haircut is free.
(I get my brows done here too!!)

All I can say about this place is WOW!!! I have spent the last 20 years trying to find the kind of quality service at a reasonable price that fit my budget and I have to look no more. The stylists at Instyle are extremely nice and they know what they are doing. I have been going there since they opened from day one and have never been disappointed. This place deserves more than 5 stars but unfortunately, we're only able to give 5! Let me just start off by saying that everyone here (employees and other clients) are so nice and personable. It's like "Cheers", where everyone knows your name and your always welcomed!
I called on a Wednesday to make a hair and make-up appointment for my wedding reception on Saturday (2 days later) and they were able to squeeze me in! They were so friendly on the phone and in making the appointment!
Kristina did my hair and make-up. I kind of told her what I was looking for and she showed me a few pictures of different styles just to get a clearer picture. While getting my hair done, I was talking with other clients and employees and it was such a friendly atmosphere. My hair came out beautiful....They did a wonderful job! My make-up was beautiful...exactly what I wanted!!!
I would definitely go back to this place! They have a great atmosphere, great parking, great service! The best thing is they can accomodate for any last minute appointments!
I do have to say, the night of my reception, my hair was still perfect (lasting all through the night, as did my make-up) and EVERYONE complimented my hair and make-up! Thank you so much Instyle!!!!
